On December 28th and 29th, The Feast of the Holy Family, every adult is invited to receive a once in a lifetime book called, 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory. This unique book, with an Imprimatur (permission to publish) by Most Rev. John C. Iffert, Bishop of Covington, is a spiritual guide “to help each other to heaven”. During our Advent Mission, Jonathon Campbell, from Hallow Parish Ministries, reminded us that life is a pilgrimage. It is a sacred journey toward our eternal home with God filled with hope.
Through our book 33 Day… we will learn what it means to be a pilgrim in a world that is constantly trying to reduce us as tourist and consumers. We will journey with Mother Teresa, John Paul II, Thérèse of Lisieux, Maximilian Kolbe, Sister Faustina, the Children of Fatima, and Mary the Mother of God, too experience Jesus in the Eucharist like never before. We will also learn the history of the Eucharist, read profound Bible passages of wisdom, apply practical lessons to our daily life, adopt a daily virtue to strengthen our faith and experience daily spiritual communion with God.
This spiritual resource presents truths, historical facts, powerful practical examples, extraordinary prayers, daily virtues to learn and live out, along with a Spiritual communion prayer and inspiring stories. All in an easy-to-follow daily format that takes just 15 minutes a day. You may also go to our website, olphcctx.org and view the 3-minute video clips for each day as a supplement to our journey together.
After 33 days reading this book, 15 minutes each day, on February 2nd, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, we will consecrate ourselves as a parish family of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, to the Eucharist, at each Mass. This consecration is an invitation for each of us to dedicate ourselves to God and surrender to Jesus in the Eucharist, as an opportunity to set aside our distractions and selfishness, dedicate ourselves completely to the will of God, and promise to faithfully respond to God’s grace in our lives.
As your pastor, it is my responsibility that we all be with God one day in Heaven. Here at Our Lady of Perpetual Help this responsibility is not taken lightly. We will do all that we can, as clergy, church staff and leaders of our parish— “help each other to heaven!” And while we are at it, we will “live life abundantly (John 10:10). Let us start this New Year with Jesus finding rest in us, as His Holy Family always living out His Eucharistic glory!
In Jesus’ Love,
Fr. Frank X. Martínez, S.T.L.
